Near the ocean, the North Fork of the Edisto River forms the northeastern boundary to the ACE Basin. The river begins as the Edisto River North Fork and South Fork before merging into the Edisto Mainstem near Branchville, SC.
The mainstem continues towards the sea until it splits above Edisto Island into the North Edisto and South Edisto. (Personally, it appears that the split is artificial. The Dawhoo River connects the two Edistos as does the Atlantic ICW.)
